Spiritual Landscaping
The beautiful and arduous work of landscaping requires vision and ingenuity. It takes an often unkempt, overgrown, unattractive space of land and turns it into a beautiful garden or park. In the spiritual realm this is perhaps a way of looking at how we as Christians minister life and light in this world of death and darkness. Every time we have a team from out of country partner with us, it is like a work of spiritual landscaping in the communities in which we are involved. The team we recently had from Pennsylvania was no exception. It was exciting to see them work in construction, evangelism, prayer, and service and then to see how the spiritual atmosphere was changed in the towns in which they worked. Praise God for short-term teams! They often don't see all the fruit of their labours, for it is a fruit that sometime takes a while to ripen, but it indeed bears fruit. It plants spiritual seeds which grow into fruit-bearing trees, which change the spiritual landscape of these towns.
